Seven months after the horrible fireball crash, F1 star’s astonishing reaction to flaming car

Romain Grosjean’s Formula One career ended abruptly seven months ago when his Haas erupted in a fiery inferno that shook the motorsports world.

The Frenchman escaped the 192km/h crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix Layout with severe burns to his hands and a sprained ankle after yanking his foot from a trapped racing boot to escape the blaze.

This season, the 35-year-old went to IndyCar, only to have his Dale Coyne Racing car catch fire overnight in a Detroit race.

Far from running away, Grosjean responded to the fire from his left-front brake by grabbing a trackside fire extinguisher and running back to put out the flames.

Officials arrived quickly to save his car, but due to Grosjean’s desire to help, they were forced to hold him back.

Given his recent incident, the racing community praised his outstanding performance on Monday morning (AEST).

Grosjean, on the other hand, played down the incident, uploading a photo of himself on social media wearing a Detroit Fire Department shirt.

He also joked online: “I care about my racing cars.”

He told the media at a press conference after retiring from the race: “Eventually we had a brake fire, and I had to extinguish a fire, but we’re all good here.”
