IndyCar welcomes Romain Grosjean in 2021
For the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series, Romain Grosjean will drive for Dale Coyne Racing on all road and street courses.
IndyCar driver Romain Grosjean has confirmed he would compete for Dale Coyne Racing in 2021.
The Frenchman has decided to look for his next racing challenge stateside after being ejected from the Haas F1 team following five seasons with them and ten in total in F1.
Grosjean will compete in 13 road and street course races for Dale Coyne Racing, which has partnered with Rick Ware Racing in part ownership of the entry.
On the three ovals in Texas, Indianapolis, and World Wide Technology Raceway, the Frenchman will not race.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity to race in the United States in the NTT IndyCar Series,” said Grosjean. “I had different options in front of me for this coming season and choosing to go IndyCar Racing was definitively my favourite one. Although, I’m not ready yet to take on the ovals!

“IndyCar has a much more level playing field than what I have been used to in my career so far. It will be exciting to challenge for podiums and wins again. My left hand is still healing, but we are just about ready to get back into the race car and to start this next chapter of my career.”
Rick Ware expressed his delight at securing the services of an F1 veteran with 180 starts to his name.
“We’re thrilled to be entering our first full season of NTT IndyCar Series racing with Dale Coyne Racing, and to have a driver of the caliber of Romain Grosjean to run the street and road courses makes it that much more exciting for us. We’re looking forward to this season,” he said.
Grosjean’s first IndyCar race will take place on February 18th at Barber Motorsports Park.
After suffering hand injuries in a horrific fiery crash at last year’s Bahrain Grand Prix, the former Haas, Lotus, and Renault driver would undoubtedly find driving a 2.2-litre twin-turbo V6 with no power steering a challenge.
Grosjean will race for the team for the first time in the season-opening race at Barber on April 11th.
