One of Kimi Räikkönen’s McLaren Formula One Cars is available for purchase

Kimi Räikkönen, a Formula One driver, has announced his retirement from the sport at the end of 2021, leaving behind a title, 21 wins, and over 100 podiums. Buy one of the McLarens he raced during the 2002 season to celebrate the 41-year-old Finn’s retirement from Formula One.

This MP4-17, especially chassis 06, made its début in the Nürburgring Grand Prix, where Räikkönen finished third. Throughout the 2002 and 2003 seasons, Räikkönen and his teammate David Coulthard raced the car a total of 12 times, with mild success. Räikkönen would go on to finish third three times with chassis 06, but it was Coulthard who drove the car to its best result, a first place finish at Albert Park in the 2003 Australian Grand Prix.

This MP4-17 is driven by a 3.0-liter Mercedes-Benz FO110M V-10 engine producing 845 horsepower and capable of revving to a staggering 18,500 rpm, and is currently set up in its original “A” standard (rather than the later 2003 “D” spec). You’ll want to turn up the sound to hear Kimi lap the car around a few tracks:

On September 17, 2021, RM Sotheby’s will auction off MP4-17 chassis 06 at its St. Moritz event in Switzerland. If you’re a true admirer of the Iceman, be prepared to part with a significant sum of money: the car is expected to sell for between 2 and 2.5 million Swiss Francs, or around $2.2 million to $2.7 million at current exchange rates.
