F1 fans express their true feelings towards Lewis Hamilton
In a fan survey conducted by the official Formula 1 website, world championship leader Lewis Hamilton finished nowhere near the top.
One would expect that fans would regard Lewis Hamilton to be a top driver after having won a record-tying seven Formula One world championships, including the last four, and a record 99 races, especially because he is now leading the driver standings with 11 of the season’s 23 races completed.
This isn’t the case, according to the results of a “best driver” fan survey conducted by the official Formula 1 website.
Before we get into the details, keep in mind that this is the same fandom that voted Sergey Sirotkin, the 2018 season’s last-place finisher in the full-time driver standings, as the best driver of the year in a Sky Sports poll.

Anyway, Hamilton finished this poll nowhere near the top.
During the four-week summer break, fans rated the sport’s 20 drivers on a scale of 1-10 based on their performance (or supposedly based on their performance) through the first 11 races of the 2021 season, and the top 10 are listed below.

- George Russell, Williams: 7.7
- Charles Leclerc, Ferrari: 7.5

Hamilton has not had his finest season, but despite having four wins to Verstappen’s five, he still leads the driver standings by eight points.
Given the equipment with which they have accomplished their various victories, everyone of the seven drivers ahead of Hamilton has had a fantastic season thus far, but the fact that Hamilton ended behind every single one of them is quite interesting.
Of course, many people are still upset that he crashed into Verstappen in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit and got away with it, given that he overcame what many regard to be a lenient penalty and won, while Verstappen was hospitalised following his 51G collision.
Given the poll’s results, we may assume that the majority of Hamilton’s votes were either “1” or “10,” with few in between.
