Kevin Schwantz (born June 19, 1964) is a former professional motorcycle road racer from the United States. In the 1993 FIM Road Racing World Championship, he was the world champion. Schwantz showed levels of desire, determination and raw courage that ‘s never been equaled. His heart-stopping style and charismatic personality won him legions of loyal fans worldwide.
Schwantz finished his career with 25 Grand Prix victories, 21 lap records, 29 pole positions, and the 1993 World Championship. When he announced his tearful retirement, the entire world wept with him, and the FIM decided to retire his iconic competition number 34 because of the huge loss to the sport. It’s the first time in the sport’s history that a rider has received such honor.
