Andrea Dovizioso is an Italian professional motorcycle racer who participated in the MotoGP world championship. He was born on March 23, 1986. In 2004, he won the 125cc World Championship. He also finished third in the MotoGP division in 2011 and has finished second to Marc Márquez three times in the top class in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Andrea Dovizioso began riding a minibike when he was seven years old and won the Italian Junior B category in 1997 and 1998 before finishing second in the Senior A category in 2000. The youngster was signed by Team Scot to ride a Honda in the 125cc World Championship in 2002 after winning the Aprilia Challenge in 2000, when he also made his Grand Prix debut as a wildcard riding an Aprilia at Mugello.
Dovizioso’s professional career got off to a discreet start, with a highest finish of ninth in his maiden season, but he earned fifth in the opening round of 2003 and took his first ever podium at the next race in South Africa. Three more podiums followed that season, and the rookie was promoted to a factory ride for 2004, inheriting the machine that had won the title for Daniel Pedrosa.
