Kimi Räikkönen of Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN will retire from Formula One at the end of 2021

Kimi Räikkönen, the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN driver, has confirmed his retirement from Formula One at the end of the 2021 season. The Finn, who has 344 Grand Prix entries and is presently the most experienced driver on the grid, will retire from the sport after a record 19 seasons in which he won 21 races, one World Championship, and the hearts and admiration of millions of fans around the world.

Before going to McLaren and Ferrari, Kimi made his F1 debut in 2001 with the Sauber F1 Team, helping the Swiss constructor to a then-best fourth place in the championship. He returned to the sport with Lotus after a two-year break in 2010 and 2011, before returning to Ferrari. He then returned to Hinwil to race in three more seasons with Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN, completing a perfect circle in an amazing career.

From his first test in Fiorano to last week’s session debriefings, Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN would like to express its gratitude to Kimi for the incredible seasons they spent together in these two stints; for the work ethic, passion for racing, and determination to succeed he displayed; and for being a unique character, always true to himself – something that endeared him to everyone who worked with him.

Kimi and his family will much enjoy his presence at home after the final chequered flag in Abu Dhabi, as the team wishes him all the best for an exceptionally well-deserved retirement. Meanwhile, we’re looking forward to a great finish to the 2021 season as a team, bringing a historic career to a fitting end.
