Pol Espargaro of the MotoGP says, “It’ll be memorable in Qatar with Honda”

The Spaniard talks about the new-look Turn 10 after completing a test day in Barcelona aboard an RC213V-S.

Some of the leading riders, like Pol Espargaró, were out in Barcelona before taking to the track at Losail, Qatar, on March 6 for the first official pre-season test.

While waiting to ride the HRC bike with which Marc Marquez has won six world titles in the last eight years, the new Repsol Honda rider was on track with an RC213V-S.

“I expect a long and difficult year”

This first outing went well, and Pol took to social media to share his thoughts: “My feeling is good. A few things are still lacking, but the bike and I are gradually getting to know each other. I improved as the day went on”. But soon he’ll be out on the real race bike: “And it’s a bit different. I haven’t been on it yet and it’s important to me, not long to go now”.

He’ll finally get to ride the RC213V on Saturday, March 6th, and he’s looking forward to completing those first laps at Losail: “I’ve been waiting a long time for these tests. I’m as happy now as I was when I first came to MotoGP. I know it will be a complicated project and a long and difficult year, but starting out with Honda in Qatar is going to be really memorable for me and I can’t wait to start”.

The latest change

He has this to say about the Catalan track’s Turn 10: “This was needed. In recent years, there have been various changes here and I think the track has gone back to its original DNA and the turn with which all the MotoGP riders learned this track”.
